METROPOLITAN ASCETICISM

DUCCIO DEMETRIO March 21, 2015 | LavorInCorso - Nutrimenti

The meeting with Prof. Duccio Demetrio introduces us to the practices of a secular asceticism, as a possibility to "illuminate" one's own life. Autobiographical writing, walking and silence are paths to the discovery of the self and the regeneration of one's own existence and, from this, openings to the present and the future. These are not practices only for the self, but for a civil commitment, aimed at preserving places and times for the human and not only for consumption, to live and not only survive, to re-create and not only resist.

DUCCIO DEMETRIO - former full professor of Philosophy of Education and of Theories and Practices of Narration, is now scientific director of the Libera università dell' Autobiografia di Anghiari(AR), which he founded in 1998 with Saverio Tutino, and of "Accademia del silenzio". He deals with social pedagogy, lifelong learning, intercultural education and epistemology of knowledge in adulthood. He edits the magazine Adultità (Guerini Edizioni). He is the author of numerous texts.
