I am an economist, but economists have ruined the world. And now it is time to change course. I am going to talk a lot about happiness, even though it is a subject that may seem strange when treated by an economist. Happiness studies have become central to economic science in the last ten years, more than that, they have become central to all social sciences. The first reason for this is that reliable sources have been found to measure happiness, the second reason is that these measurements of happiness tell interesting if very uncomfortable stories.
