FOR A MINIMALIST UTOPIA

LUIGI ZOJA 1 December 2012 | LavorInCorso - Candide 2012 and beyond

The last century was one of maximalist utopias. We know the results. However, the solution is not to live without utopias. A generation ago, when Western society had reached the highest level of fairness in history, many wanted to tear it down to create a fairer one. Today, differences in wealth have increased at every level and, due to excessive development and greed, the future of the entire planet is at risk. Yet both intellectuals and what I have elsewhere called the 'new critical generation' are withdrawing into private life.
